View Full Version : Are there any other GOOD magical girl anime?

I was just thinking about it, and Sailor Moon's really the only show of its genre which is actually cool. I mean, I was a boy, and I still liked it without being the demographic they were looking for.

But I've seen others that just don't compete. It's like they're silly, but not funny silly, just lame silly. Mew Mew Power, Magical DoReMi, even new American crap like Winx Club, they just stink. I think maybe the age group they're catering to is a little too young, like infant level plotlines.

So, anybody got an idea of something Sailor Moon-like that's actually enjoyable?

Winx club is Italian not American. it's been dubbed by 4kids

Cardcaptor sakura is kinda good, but the dub is more enjoyable. the original version is way to girly and cheesy.

THAT explains why the animation style is so nauseating.

I agree wholeheartedly!

I've never seen another magical girl anime (or simply an animated one) that I thought was worth watching an entire episode...it would be really cool to find another one.

watch a Carcaptor Sakura episode(Original, uncut) vs the Dubbed and edited by Nelvana.(YES NELVANA, 4kids only acted as distributor in America.) the dub will sound less cheesy

Cardcaptor Sakura, huh? I think I saw a dubbed episode once and didn't like it. Since you suggested it, I think I'll give it another shot. (besides, the Japanese version is always worth giving a shot when the dub sucks):P

the Japanese version is Card Captor Sakura and the English version is Card Captors. I haven't seen the dubbed version yet. It doesn't seem too bad. Hm...wasn't Card Captors on Nick once a long time ago?

I remember it premiering on Kids' WB! and old episodes being re-aired on Cartoon Network a couple of years later, but I don't remember Nickelodeon showing it.

The japanese version is worse than the dub... unless u like ultra chessy magical girl anime with homosexual/lesbian references every episode

Personally I always thought Tomoyo's crush on Sakura was adorable, but perhaps that was just me. And, sure, it was cheesy, but come on. We're fans of Sailor Moon. It has it's own fair amount of cheese in any version.

*Shrugs* What about Julian's crush on Tori. that was just weird... and Sailor Moon is less cheese. I think maybe because CCS is for a much more Younger audience

SuperS was pretty much Cardcaptors. Which is why I can't stand it. LOL

Not familiar with the dub, MK. Haven't even seen much of the sub. I do, however, think that they would have made a cute couple. But, again, maybe that's just me.

It is something that people should come to expect from Clamp. It's virtually their trademark to have at least 1 gay, lesbian, or bi character in every manga or anime they put out.
