I thing the color of her hair was different before to signify her when she was more innocent. Her hair become Red when she turns evil.

With all the things Crystal has done wrong. I'm not worried about Beryl's hair. Can't believe they didn't even show her bowing to Matallia back on ancient Earth. Since it was in the manga and they supposedly love what the Manga does. Not that most fans live by the orginal anime or anything....
