Sure, when Dex used his crystal the first time to bring Combat Chopper and Magno to life it made sense, but for them to go through that whole labored transformation episode after episode was grating. And the only reason they transformed from bugs was I assume due to them hiding in organic forms in case a stranger stumbled into the cave.
