yes she was supposed to be a lesbian and it was supposed to be implied not outright stated mind you in the finale. Disney had no issues with it they just wanted another Kira performance which is why it got scrapped.

Russia is sadly behind the times when it comes to Gay Rights. I agree its silly given how little it is mentioned in the movie. But other cultures are different.

Yeah, it was actually handled quite well and is not propaganda on either side. I can't see how it was offensive at all.
