Did anyone get the vibe that the Tommy we got in DT seemed a lot different from the Tommy we got in Forever Red?

Amit had a very different idea for Tommy then Doug. In Forever Red, Tommy was supposed to be a rich celebrety. Also the leader of Hexagon. Some of this would have been followed up on in Amit's version of Ninja Storm.

By the time of DT it was a completely different production team and Doug had his own ideas for Tommy. Plus in this case Tommy was diffiently coming back full time so the dynamics changed. Plus they had to adapt things to shoot the Abaranger footage.

At least Sloan was still open to the idea of Hexagon. Even if he rejected all the civil war stuff Hexagon NS would have entailed.

I think a lot of Amit's plans for NS would have been scaled down by Tzachor or the studio. I can't see them going as far as Amit wanted. Jonathon probably would have wanted to follow the Sentai Footage pretty closely, like he did with Wild Force.

But the idea of Hexagon still works. Even without the civil war stuff, the idea of Tommy leading a secret organization to help Ranger teams works. And nothing really contradicts it on screen anyway.

Tzachor's NS would have been superior to the the version Disney gave us.

No doubt since Saban would have still been in charge.

I don't see much of a difference really. Tommy was just being more mysterious in Forever Red because they were on a top secret mission.

The idea Tommy was some rich celebrity made no sense. Especially when he becomes a mild mannered teacher in DinoThunder.

We had way too much Tommy overkill by that point

How could you say that? By those points Tommy had been gone for years. Even DT took place a few years after Wild Force.

A few years too soon.

The fact we later found out Tommy has the Master Morph only makes it more plausible Hexagon exists.

Oh yes, another super power up good old Tommy.

That wasn't Tommy. He would never have married Katherine. Especially since our Tommy is married to Kimberly.

That wasn't Tommy. He would never have married Katherine. Especially since our Tommy is married to Kimberly.

Saban Brands/Hasbro would probably say differently.

We had Tommy overkill as soon as we first saw him in Green With Evil. Its amazing how much he ruined the series.

MMPR Forever

But a lot of old school fans view Tommy as their favorite character. And he is the face of Power Rangers.

Tommy was at his best in MMPR though. But it is always nice to see him again.

Tommy was probably just on vacation in Forever Red. Obviously we know there are productions changes that played a role in all this, but it fan all be explained away.

I always liked the way DT handled Tommy to be honest. Forever Red seemed a little too far fetched. Of course DinoThunder had more episodes to work with the character. So its a bit unfair.

I think Tommy toned down a lot of the aspects you saw in Forever Red to blend in more during DT. He clearly didn't want a lot of outside attention. He had his records from Angel Grove made confidential.

Zordon's Legacy Exposed

Tommy has become the master of hiding his true motivations and can take on various roles. These roles are all carefully designed to benefit his objectives. Tommy learned from Zordon and became as devious as the big giant head.
