New Year's Eve ABC programming
Interesting.
ABC is doing a Top 30 countdown of Dick Clark's greatest discoveries. 30. Rock around the Clock (very first rock and roll song to go Number 1.) The year they used was 1959. I'm guessing the year is going by whatever clip they use. That clip is from a black and white episode of "American Bandstand," I believe. 29. Toni Basil's "Mickey." Year is 1982. 28. INXS' "Need You Tonight." 1987. 27. John Travolta's "Let Her In." 1976. 26. James Brown's "Bring It On." 1983 25. Culture Club. "Move Away." 1986. 24. Jefferson Airplane. "Somebody to Love." 1967. 23. Bangles. "Manic Monday." 1986 22. Johnny Cash. "Ballade of a Teenage Queen." 1959. 21. Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." 1984. Diana Ross.1978. Beach Boys' Brian Wilsom. 1980. Berry Gordy. 1992. There was a clip of Dick Clark wearing the same dress that Jenny McCarthy wore. There was a clip of a '59 screen test of him. Clip of him from '68 in "Killers Three." Clips of him from the following: 1960's "Because they're young." '87 clip of Bruce Willis and Dick Clark together while Dick is Hosting a show. '78 clip of Host Dick Clark and the muted Mickey Mouse. '73 clip of "Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour." '78 clip of Milton Berle pieing Dick. |

There was a clip of Dick and Elvis Presley talking on a phone call during a live episode of American Bandstand. Elvis was stationed in Germany at the time due to going into the Army in 1958.

Re: New Year's Eve ABC programming
Clip of Dick hosting the 100,000 Pyramid when he's introducing a 1958 vehicle which I believe was the Chevrolet. Others are laughing at him because a crew member is corrrecting him, telling him it's '85, not '58.
There were 2 other bloopers from 2 shows he did but I don't recognize them. 20. 1965, The Miracles. "Shop Around." 19. 1980. Pet Benetar. "Heartbreaker." 18. 1966. The Mamas & the Papas. "Californina Dreamin'" 17. 1982. Billy Idol. "White Wedding." 16. 1981. Go-Go's "We Got the Beat." |
Re: New Year's Eve ABC programming
Clips of Dick correcting Diana Ross since he's saying he believes they're supposed to "throw it to London."
Clip of Dick introducing James Brown but he doesn't come out so he makes a joke about it. Clip of Dick and Raquel Welch talking while on a staircase. Clip of Elizabeth Taylor and Dick. Clip of Will Smith mentioning Dick. Clip of Dick and Reba McEntire. Clip of Janet Jackson & Michael Jackson along with Dick. Janet was really young in this clip. 15. John Cougar Mellencamp's "Hurts So Good." This is from 1981. Dick just simply introduced him as John Cougar whereas Jenny McCarthy introduced him as John Mellencamp. 14. From 1980. The Beach Boys. "Good Vibrations." 13. From 1979. Blondie. "Heart of Glass." 12. From 1966. Neil Diamond. "Solitary Man." |
