Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Would it have been more interesting if Merrick was actually a reformed Org...And not a former worrier under the power of the Zen-Aku curse?
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
So Zan-Aku starts of as a pure Org that somehow becomes a human Ranger?
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I'm glad they followed the Sentai and did Marrick like GaoSilver.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Actually, this idea would have been much more interesting. Plus it would have put an original spin on the adapted character.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I don't think an Org could really have a heart.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I've thought about this myself. That's what I thought they might be going for when I first heard about the Sentai. It would have been an interesting way to go. He could have been an Org cursed with a Soul or something. That would be why he was so different in this scenario.

Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Would have been better than a brooding Merrick who acted like a cry baby. At least the series was decent though. Which is more than I can say for what has come after.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I thought Merrick was too mean to the other Rangers. They just wanted to help him.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I liked Merrick. He was an imperfect character with a guilty past. The op's idea does sound like an interesting alternative.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Wouldn't it be a bit arrogant to have him have to become human to be good?
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
They already established that almost every Org was pure evil anyway.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I think Merrick was fine like he was. I like that he didn't hog the spotlight like other Sixth's have done at times.

Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
They should have kept Zen-Aku as his own entity after Merrick got free. I mean as a regular as opposed to only seeing him a few times like we did afterwards.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
The real Zen-Aku seemed to turn good in the end anyway....
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
They could have done the same thing with Tyzonn if they wanted too.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I'd also shorten the Zen-Aku arch, it was way too long.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Merrick and Shayla were just a carbon copy of Wes and Jen. So I wouldn't mind doing things differently.

Sounds too wierd to me. I think they were better off doing what they did.

He felt guilty for all the bad things he did. He also had to deal with living in a completeky new time. |
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
He was fighting a war not worried about hurting people's feelings.

Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I think redeemed heroes are more interesting when their past actions were done under there own power.

Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Right....But Zen-Aku doing all those evil acts without being under some spell or curse makes him a more flawed character. And gives him more reasons to feel guilty and have the need to redeem himself. He would be more like Karone and Ryan in this case.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
The last thing we needed was another fake redeemed Power Ranger. I am glad they went with the Merrick storyline. At least he didn't remember who he was. So he isn't realky evil like so called Rangers.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Matt's right....Zen-Aku 's redemption was much better the way they did it with Merrick and the curse.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
They had to stick with the sentai storyline.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I still can't think of a way of making Zen-Aku turn human.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Animus curses Zen-Aku as a punishment for some evil act. As a result he has a soul or heart. Shortly after he was imprisioned and is later released during WF. Zen-Aku battles the Rangers but is conflicted because of his soul. He eventually becomes good and loses his Org powers. As a reward Animus saves him by making him human. Now renamed Merrico, he winds up becoming the Lunar Wolf Ranger.

Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I would have rather them just come up with an original plot with a fully human Ranger. Zen-Aku was boring.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
Wild Force was pretty blah times.. Merrick's back story is one of the more interesting plots though.
|
Re: Missed opertunity in Wild Force
I just wish they made Wild Force its own thing like Galaxy was to its Sentai.
