Power Ranger Online Message Board - View Single Post - Can you recommend a sentai for those who don't like sentai?

Ok, so I've tried watching a variety of sentai in the past, but I've never been able to watch too many episodes. They're not objectively bad, but there's a whole bunch of cultural things that I just can't get over. Acting can be way over the top (SO MUCH YELLING!!!), dialogue is full of "tell don't show" ("you did this thing to me and that makes me sad... you know just in case my tone, tears, and body language didn't give it away), weird manga stuff like eyes turning into hearts to indicate that someone loves something, really weird costumes that we left behind as we adapted stuff, and creepy furry mentors just to name a few.

Let me reiterate that none of this is bad; it's just that, as an American, I just don't "get it." So, toku fans, is there a season that would be more tailored to a taste like mine?
