Power Rangers is typically better when it is serious (Time Force, Wild Force just to name a couple) but that's not to say some seasons aren't as good just because they're not serious. MMPR season ends 3 is a decent season even though it's goofy.

I completely agree that the show is better when it is a serious or darker season but not always. I'm not a big fan of the goofier seasons though.
