Why would Diabolico want Ryan?
I was thinking about Ryan's backstory. Where Mitchill, young Dana, and young Ryan were in a car accident. With Ryan clinging to Mitchill's legs. Diabolico comes in spirit form and offers to save Ryan if Mitchill gives him to him. When Ryan falls , Mitchill is forced to agree. Diabolico saves Ryan and tells Mitchill that he won't see him again until he turns 21.
Now their is the obvious question of why Diabolico's spirit was able to do this when he was trpped with the other demons at the time. But thats not why I made this thread. My question here is why Diabolico made the deal with Mitchill in the first place? Why did he want Ryan? We don't k now if Mitchill was already working with Lightspeed to create a force to fight the demons. If he was, that could have been a motivation. But it seems more likely that Mitchill was working as a fire fighter. Perhaps the demon had knowledge of the future somehow. But its all still murky. There had to have been something special about Ryan. Unless Diabolico just did this with many others that we didn't see on screen. |

All good deeds come with a price. Diabolico was never truly evil, proven by his actions in the show after Mariner Bay was attacked he later got the Astronema treatment to make him do evil things.
Thus why wouldn't he help save a father and his children? |

Re: Why would Diabolico want Ryan?
Actually, you could argue that Diabolico only turned on Bansheera for revenge. The Rangers we're simply just a lesser evil at that point. He helped them defeat Bansheera out of revenge for what she did to Loki and himself.
And Diabolico was clearly on Bansheera's side before she set Loki up. So he was evil during the timeframe of Mitchill's accident. Plus he seemed pretty devious. If yoiu wanted t save a father's son, you'd be nice enough to give him back. |

Re: Why would Diabolico want Ryan?
Diabolico had been locked away for thousands of years. He knew nothing of humans' strength of weaknesses, so he wanted Ryan to study, to push, to test, to torture, whatever.
But since he was not completely evil to the core he saw an opportunity to take a child without hassle and clearly save those who clearly needed saving for a price. |

Re: Why would Diabolico want Ryan?
I wonder if Dobolico took other young kids in the same way. Perhaps he was trying to build some sort of army. Its hard to say because there is really no evidence of him stealing other kids. The only other instance of a demon using a human was Brain. When he became Vypra's student and took some of her power. Makes you wonder why Dobolico never did that to Ryan. For a guy raised by demons, Ryan was pretty well adjusted.

Diabolico didn't steal the child, the child was freely given to him by the father.
Why would you need more than one child to study the strengths and weaknesses of a frail human body? |
