Default The argument that Crystal "isn't expressive"

compared to the old anime

I both agree and disagree with that complaint

on one hand, the Crazy facial expressions Usagi made in the old anime were more of an animation shortcut than it was them "making her emote better"

but on the other hand...Usagi did in fact make crazy expressions where her eyes vanished and her nose dissapeared in the manga
Spoiler
in the scene where she meets Mamoru her eyes dissapear entirely and her eyebrows turn into an irregular uni-brow like squiggle for 3 whole panels

....but crystal chose not to use those expressions in the name of Making the show...."prettier"

so in a way....Usagi does emote less facially than she should in Crystal.

Sure the show is expressive. We get endless Usagi gives up only to be comforted by Mamoru. We get it their in love! And this version of Sailor Moon is aparently incapable of doing anything without her Boyfriend to help her. As much as Usagi fooled around in the original anime, she had no problem standing up to Beryl on her own in the end.

Mamoru ia just there to give her support. Sailor Moon is the one that saved the day.
