Default Are ranger colors supposed to be ranks?

At another message board, someone commented about
how Rocky was "demoted" to blue in Zeo. Then, someone
spoke out and said that ranger colors don't always have
to indicate ranks. However, I could understand why
anybody would think that ranger colors are ranks, since
Red Rangers are usually the leaders, unless if
there's a White Ranger somewhere.<br><br>In MMPR, Jason
was the leader as the Red Ranger. Then when Tommy
changed from green to white, he became the leader. That
might not have been so bad since Jason was going to
leave anyway, and then be replaced by Rocky. Some would
agree that Rocky's character wouldn't make him a good
leader anyway. Then, in MMAR, Delphine was the White
Alien Ranger, as well as the Alien Rangers leader.
Aurico could have been the leader as the Red Alien
Ranger, but Saban must have been staying true to how
Kakuranger works. In Kakuranger (MMAR's Sentai counterpart),
the White Ranger is also the leader instead of the
Red Ranger.<br><br>In Zeo, the rangers were
identified mostly by number than color. Kat was Zeo Ranger
1, Tanya was Zeo Ranger 2, and Tommy, the leader,
was Zeo Ranger 5. Five is the highest number out of
the others. Rocky seemed second to Tommy in MMPR when
he was the Red Ranger, but now that so-called
"second-in-command" position seemed to have gone to Adam. When Tommy
would leave the Zeo Megazord to pilot the Red
Battlezord, Adam would always take Tommy's front seat, and
he's Zeo Ranger 4. The numbers that the rangers were
given were probably from the symbols on their helmets.
Kat (Zeo Ranger 1), had an oval on her helmet, Tanya
(Zeo Ranger 2) had two lines, Rocky (Zeo Ranger 3) had
a triangle, Adam (Zeo Ranger 4) had a quadrangle,
and Tommy (Zeo Ranger 5) had a five-pointed star. The
Gold Ranger could have been called Zeo Ranger 6
because of the shape on his helmet, but then that would
probably look like he outranks Tommy.<br><br>In Turbo, the
rangers had numbers on their suits. Tommy and T.J. had
the number 1 on their suit, Kat and Cassie had the
number 5, and Justin had the number 2. I couldn't
picture Justin as a second-in-command to Tommy and T.J.
If anything, Adam and Carlos would be better. Toei
might have used a ranking system in Carranger (Turbo's
Sentai counterpart), but it probably wasn't of any
significance in Turbo.<br><br>In Megaranger (Space's Sentai
counterpart), it was the Black Ranger that was the leader, even
though Saban kept his tradition of Red Rangers being
leaders. T.J. who was the leader in Turbo, became the Blue
Ranger, which might have looked like a major demotion to
some of you, although it probably wasn't meant to be.
Two rangers change colors in this series once again.
In Zeo, Tommy went from white to red, Adam from
black to green, and Rocky from red to blue. In Space,
T.J. went from red to blue, and Carlos from green to
black. In incarnations like MMPR, Zeo, Turbo, and
Galaxy, you probably noticed that if one of the basic
five rangers isn't black, it's green, and vice-versa.
The sixth ranger would get the other
color.<br><br>Gogo Five (Rescue's Sentai counterpart) might have
used a ranking system since the Red Ranger was number
1. However, in Saban's version, the Titanium
Lightspeed Ranger was number 6. I don't think that could
have meant that he's the ranger with the least power.
I always thought sixth rangers had the power of the
basic five rangers combined.<br><br>In Timeranger, the
Pink Ranger is the leader. This will also be the case
in Time Force. If anything, ranking might have been
a part of Sentai series', and maybe Saban decided
to disregard that aspect in his versions. Even so,
it's difficult to ignore. Red seems to be the colors
that the leaders wear, unless there's a White Ranger.
The other four rangers could be just followrs, and
neither of them is better than the other. What do you
guys think?

Awesome theories but no. Maybe in Power Rangers
it could be seen as rank, but in Sentai the colors
are significant of personality. I cant find my issues
of Sentai so this is off the top of my
head.<br><br>Red- Leadership, honor, protection<br>Blue- comical,
fun loving<br>Green/Black- the man of mystery,
aloof<br>Yellow- Tough, leaps before he looks<br>Pink- Kind,
basically the girl stereotype<br><br>Now in TimeRanger it
seems to me that the yellow ranger is the aloof man of
mystery and that the green rangers is the comic, and of
course pink is the leader; but if you look at past
Sentai this rings true. It also rings true out side of
Sentai in Japanese culture.

The type of Color a Power Ranger has is regarded
as his or her Rank,in addition,It also depends on
the series or kind of Power Rangers your dealing
with,<br>Let us look at the Titanuim Ranger and the Gold &
White Rangers .Here is a typical standard below:<br>
--(Top being of a higher Rank)--<br> ...<br> Gold
Ranger<br> ...<br> White Ranger<br> ...<br> Titanium
Ranger<br> ...<br> Red Ranger<br> ...<br> Green Ranger<br>
...<br> Blue Ranger<br> ...<br> Pink Ranger<br> ...<br>
Black Ranger<br> ...<br> Yellow Ranger<br>
........................<br> In my Power Rangers Role-Playing Game
however,<br> The Cobalt Blue Ranger is the Leader and the
Titanium-Gold Ranger is second in command, the <br> other
Rangers are Followers but each has their<br> own
Strengths and unique Powers which combined<br> with their
Zords have very god-awesome effects.

again great theories but colors are pretty much
to distinguish characters. Why would traditionally
female ranger colors like yellow and pink be the lowest
rank? Saban wouldn't want something like that to bite
them in the bum. Becuz i would most certaintly raise a
stink.

There can't be any ranking systems for PR. To be
honest, since they get stuff from the Sentai. All of the
ranking systems fall short because they don't follow the
show anyway. And to be honest shouldn't the Rangers be
equal anyway? They're a team, and the leader has
usually been <br><br>Zordon (MMPR to ZEO)<br><br>Dimetria
(Turbo)<br><br>You could consider Andros the leader of PRiS, but I
consider it DECA and Alpha 6, which goes through Lost
Galaxy as well.<br><br>Captain Mitchell.<br><br>Other
then that, the Rangers should be equals.

Correct! The order i gave was just a standard fix, <br>But this order is a more concise one,And further-<br>more, When it comes down to it each Ranger is a<br>unique one and each has their place!

Contrere' Mon Rangere',There is a distinct
Ranking system, and if you believe that there should be a
leader other than Zordon? Well aren't you
con'tre'<br>dic'te' yourself?<br><br>When Adam said,"I'm a frog?" he
wasn't complaining<br>he just thought he should've been
Ranked higher.<br>Since he had proven his skills as a
Power Ranger in the past.

I can understand that color and rank of Power
Rangers are a great deal perhaps in RPGs, but I do not
see it as a major problem with the show. Each ranger
may have different strenghs, weaknesses, and
abilities, but they all have to work together as a team
instead of individuals. When one ranger is the highlight
of an episode that ranger seems to be the leader.
There is no need to worry about which color is the
leader and who is ranked higher than anyone else. Just
try to think that each Power Ranger is a leader and
htey lead each other.
