Default MMPR and a threatening Bulk

So we all love Bulk and Skull, right? They have some moments of being proper bullies in early eps - getting violent in Teamwork and their antics in Happy Birthday Zack - but mainly they were a pretty feeble duo who could be easily turned into better-natured comic relief.

But then there's the second pilot episode that got showed at Power Morphicon 07. There, Bulk is leading a gang*, he's menacing Kim and having her grabbed, he's visually presented as a threat, he's chucking people around.... and Kim sounds scared. Compare that to the aired episode, where Bulk and Skull's first scene is being pushy, getting scared of Jason ("him, make him"), and then easily flipped over.

If the original pilot had gone to air with that Bulk scene, would we have got Bulk & Skull as we remember them or would they have ended up as a much less interesting, much shorter lived duo? (Only so much you can get out of bullies who are actually trying to beat people up in a show where the cast don't have to care about bullies)

* And Sharkie's just about there, so maybe she'd have stuck around and PR Samurai would have Spike with his Auntie Sharkie. I CAN DREAM.

I dont think Fox kids would have let them use a threatening Bulk. The reason why the Bulk in the piolet was toned down is probably because of this.
