I agree, Rita had control of those powers. So Zordon couldn't take them away. But it turned out to be hard for Rita too lol.

I do think Zordon had away to take the powers away from his Rangers. But its funny he needed a special sword to actually transfer those powers. So if his Rangers all misbehaved he couldn't just select new ones.

not quite right about the Sword of Light it was only required because Zack, Trini and Jason were leaving hence why they went to get the Sword I think it was more like a way to protect against an overload. The Rangers could've passed on their powers on their own but because too many were doing it at once the grid would've been overloaded so they kind of used the Sword as an energy source to help in the transfer so that it would stabilize the grid.
