Mamoru in the anime and manga his childhood

Hi guys I was thinking on Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and their explanation of Mamoru having a patron. I was wondering do you think this same situation applies in the anime. One thing that is obviously true is that he has alot of money. However I have also heard some people state that he was raised in an orphanage. What is the truth on the matter?

I'm not sure what version you're referring to but in the case of the anime, all that was really stated is that Mamoru/Darien lived in an orphanage after the accident that was a result of his amnesia but whether such an accident truly occurred or not is hard to answer since he wasn't supposed to remember anything about his past life as Endymion until it was necessary.
