It was pretty disappointing since it started out as a good storyline. At least we got to see a vulnerable Tommy. It was rare to get good character development like that during that era.

I think the storyline's purpose was to be a character building arch for Tommy. And it accomplished this.

I agree that the whole storyline was meant to develop Tommy's character and give him something to do in Zeo. I like that he was able to be vunerable in Zeo. It made him a more interesting character then he was as White Ranger.
